全球行动：请释放当知项欠（Dhondup Wangchen）！

7月31日，在纽约、苏黎世、法兰克福、慕尼黑等城市，要求中国政府立即释放当知项欠（Dhondup Wangchen）的全球行动开始了。

流亡藏人以及支持西藏的国际人士，在中国领事馆抗议。在苏黎世的抗议人士，还用手铐将自己扣在领事馆的铁门上。

从这天起，全球将有一系列行动，声援拍摄纪录片《Leaving Fear Behind 》（《不再恐惧》）而蒙受牢狱之灾的藏人当知项欠（Dhondup Wangchen）。

我很愤慨地获悉，电影制作人、藏人当知项欠（Dhondup Wangchen），被指控“煽动分裂国家罪”，将于近期，在青海省西宁市，面临对他的审判。

2008年3月，因为记录普通西藏人对即将举行的北京奥运会的意见，当知项欠被拘押。他行使的是基本的言论自由权，却为此遭受迫害。

当知项欠在拘押期间被殴打和折磨。根据最新的消息，他的身体状况很差，并且患上乙型肝炎，却因被监禁而得不到治疗。

此外，当知项欠所委托的独立律师被当局阻扰，禁止介入。这一事实，让人怀疑他难以得到公正审判，以及中国司法制度的公正性。藏人以和平方式表达他们的意见，却经常被剥夺基本的法律权利，而获漫长的刑期。

我与全球成千上万的人，在此共同呼吁中国政府立即无条件地释放当知项欠。我还呼吁中国政府保障他在押期间，不致遭受酷刑或其他虐待，允许与亲人见面，批准他选择的法律援助，提供他需要的医疗服务。

I am outraged to learn that Dhondup Wangchen is facing trial in Siling in eastern Tibet (Chinese: Xining, Qinghai Province) on charges of "inciting separatism."

Dhondup Wangchen was detained in March 2008 for documenting the views of ordinary Tibetans in the lead up to the Beijing 2008 Olympics. He is being persecuted solely for exercising his basic right to freedom of expression.

Dhondup Wangchen has been beaten and tortured whilst in detention and is reported to be in very poor health. He has also been denied treatment for Hepatitis B.

Furthermore, Dhondup Wangchen's lawyer has been barred from representing him, casting doubt over the fairness of his trial and the legitimacy of China's judicial system. Tibetans are routinely denied their basic legal rights and sentenced to lengthy prison terms for the peaceful expression of their views.

I join tens of thousands of people worldwide calling on the Chinese government to release Dhondup Wangchen immediately and unconditionally. I further call on China to guarantee while he remains in custody that he is not tortured or otherwise ill-treated, and has access to family, legal assistance of his choosing, and any medical care he may require.
