傅正明:五十年悲剧的交错时空
为纪念西藏抗暴运动五十周年,中国旅美雕塑家陈维明受国际汉藏协会委 托,创作“西藏自由之路”大型浮雕。这部带有铜质效果的玻璃钢高浮雕,塑造了十个流亡藏人的艺术形象,2009年3月10日在纽约揭幕,将运往台北展览, 然后运往西藏流亡政府所在地印度达兰萨拉展览和存放。
在念青唐古喇山脉的脊背,
一把魔剑劈出双峰直插天际――
夏贡拉与怒贡拉东西相看不厌,
山脚下是紧紧连接的地脉。
在美利坚自由的土地上,
一位中国艺术家攥紧拳头,
伸出两个指头的V形手印,
开叉处有汉藏两族混流的血脉。
雕塑家不断推倒重来的腹稿
是密勒日巴拆了又建的房舍①,
最后的构图是诗圣的一首道歌
有降伏四魔的神韵法力。
斧凿镂刻的雕刀
是帝洛巴捣芝麻的木杵,
在空行母灵感的启迪下
把慧根的芳香散作人寰花雨。②
浮雕的雄伟史诗
漂浮着遇劫的珠牡的希冀,
格萨尔王赤兔的虹霓
把香巴拉的幻美牵引到苦难雪域。③
浮雕的雄伟史诗
飘浮着奥德修斯返航的船只,
尽管风袋泄漏鼓满洞穿的云帆,
始终指向梦中的伊塔卡故里。
悄然无声的音乐
飘浮着佛陀狮子吼的纶音,
“如是我闻”,无惧的非暴力,
六度波罗蜜,求真求善的法喜。④
五十年交错时空的悲剧
飘浮着亦儒亦侠的遗韵气脉。
一息尚存的华夏文明和西藏文明
在萧索秋气中把天地人勾连一体。
缺乏静美意识的观者,
请不要亵渎童真高声话语,
不要惊醒曲巴藏装中孩子的初梦。
这是可以闭关静修之处。
只懂暴力语言的观者,
请自重收敛你飞溅的唾沫。
这里正举行一位死难者的超度法事,
她死不瞑目躺在一位有缘的老妪怀里。
雅鲁藏布江边饮过战马的青年
刀枪还给了他身旁活佛的寺院仓库,
但他的灵和肉经受了匠心的掂量,
结晶成典型的康巴汉子。
那双手反抱的一对,
你不必认定为亲生母女或姊妹。
流亡途中一串念珠串联起来的同胞
也能挺身为他人抵挡飞来的枪子。
转经筒古老的文字唇间的六字真言
凝结着千百年云烟片言百意的深奥,
牵动着六百万颗虔诚的藏心,
诉说大圆满素朴的真理。
请回敬那位少女双手合十的祝福,
你是否看出她两颊的高原红?
那是在世界屋脊的珠宝之上
最热烈的太阳盖上的印泥。
女人啊,你的名字不再是弱者!
杰尊帕玛卓玛就是“救度佛母”,
珠穆朗玛隆起的女性精神
是傲睨泰山雄霸强权的解毒剂。
谦卑而高贵的藏人
他们的诉求太小太小他们的愿景太大太大――
我要回家,还我们回家的权利!
让我们走上众生涅槃的自由之路!
平凡而伟大的艺术家
坚如金刚的玻璃钢铭刻着3.10悲壮的日子,
将沿途点燃纽约、台北、达兰萨拉的历史记忆。
难道它与北京拉萨真有万劫的距离?
注释:
① 密勒日巴是西藏瑜伽士和诗圣,他向上师玛尔巴求法时,玛尔巴一度以不断建造、拆毁房屋的苦役激发他开悟。
② 帝洛巴是印度大成就者,藏传佛教噶举派祖师,他曾遵照灵视中空行母的指导,做过捣芝麻的粗活。
③ 西藏史诗《格萨尔王》中主人公的王妃牡珠曾被霍尔国王劫持,赤兔是格萨尔王坐骑的名字。
④ 遵佛陀嘱托,佛经多以“如是我闻”起句以求真求信,六度波罗蜜是下述六种菩萨修行的方法:布施、持戒、忍辱、精进、禅定、般若(智慧)。

A TRAGEDY COMBINED WITH 50 YEARS TIME AND INTERLACED SPACE

To commemorate the 50th Tibetan National Uprising day, artist and
sculptor Chen Weiming, both as an ethnic Chinese and an immigrant to
America, entrusted by the New York-based Sino-Tibet Study Group, has
created a huge relief under the title of “Tibetan Journey to Freedom”.
This artwork (3.2m wide and 2 m high), unveiled on March 10, 2009, in
New York City, is a glass steel high-relief with an artistic effect of
copper relief, molding a vivid portrait of ten Tibetans in exile. It
will be moved to Taipei for exhibition to the public and then will be
moved to Dharamsala, India, the site of Tibet’s government-in-exile,
for exhibition and conservation.
On the back of Nyaiqentanglha Mountains
A couple of high passes split by a demonic sward flinging up to heaven
East Sharkong La and west Nupkong La watch each other without disgust
Under the mountains there are unbreakable veins of earth
On America Land of Liberty
A Chinese artist grasps his fist and then makes
A Mudra of V-shaped fingers
A symbol of the adjoining veins of blood of Sino-Tibet
Sculptor, the drafts worked out in your mind
Are like the houses built and destroyed over and over again
By Milirepa, the last one is an essential song of the Tibetan saint
With the magic power of subduing the four maras. 1
Your art knives with unique edges
Is like the pestle in the mortar once used by Tilopa
Grinding the sesame seeds, inspired by the sacred Dakini 2
You turn your primordial wisdom into timely flower rains.
Ah, an epic relief artwork upon which
The hope of the kidnapped Drugmo floats
The rainbow’s horse of Gesar of Ling
Carries Shambhala vision and returns to the Land of Snow. 3
Ah, an epic relief artwork upon which
Odysseus’ returning ship drifts.
The sails are shredded after Aeolus’ bag being opened
But it sails always toward Ithaca in the hero’s dream
Ah, a silent music in heaven from which
The lion’s roar spoken of by the Buddha is heard.
"Evam," fearless nonviolence and the Six Perfections
Help us remember the kind things as they are. 4
Ah, a tragedy combined with 50 years time and interlaced space,
A lingering sound of both traditional warriors and gentlemen haunting
in the distance,
One breath remaining in Chinese and Tibetan civilizations,
An Oneness of Heaven, Earth and Man created in the autumn wind.
Beholders short of aesthetic sense,
Please don’t violate a virgin soul by speaking loudly, don’t break
The first dream of the child in the arms of its mother dressed in a
Tibetan chuba
Here is a place suitable for retreat meditation.
Beholders who understand only violent words
Please retain your self-respect and control your flying spittle
Here is being held a special prayer ceremony for the female victim
Who lies in the arms of the old woman whom she met by chance.
The youth who once watered his horse at the Brahmaputra’s shore
Had already returned his gun to the monastery storage of the Rinpoche
Who stands behind him, but both the youth’s figure and his value,
After the sculptor’s exam, have been mould a typical Khampa man
The couple is held with both arms behind the back,
But you needn’t conceive of them as mother-daughter or sisters.
These landsmen on the exiled road are connected by a string of prayer beads.
One can perhaps step forward to somehow block a flying bullet for another one.
The old mantras on the prayer wheel and in the lips
The six syllables, simple in language but esoteric in meaning,
Link the devotional hearts of six millions Tibetans,
Speaking of the essence of the Great Perfection.
Please answer back the girl with her hands in the ‘Namaste-hello’ position.
Have you perhaps discovered the Plateau Red in her face?
That is the red ink paste sealed by the warmest sun
Upon the pearl on the roof of the world.
Women, your name is frailty no longer
Jetsun Dolma or Tibetan Tara is the “mother of liberation”
And the feminine principle marked by Jomo-Glangma
Is an antidote for the male chauvinism of Mount Tai.
Those humble but noble Tibetans,
Their request is so small but appetite is so huge:
We want to go back! Return us the basic right to go back our home!
Let us go on the Tibetan journey to freedom and to the nirvana of all
human beings!
Ordinary but great artist,
Your plastic glass steel is a dorje symbol imprinted the tragic event
of March 11,
It will light the memory of New York, Taipei and Dharamsala.
When shall Beijing and Lhasa receive the great gift?
Notes:
1 Before becoming a great Tibetan Yogi and poet, Milirepa found his
teacher Marpa who asked him to build and re-build houses in order to
inspire his self realization. In Milirepa’s songs, “mara,” Sanskrit
for “demon,” refers to anything that obstructs the attainment of
liberation or enlightenment.
2 Indian Mahasiddha Tilopa, the founder of the Kagyu lineage of
Tibetan Buddhism, is said to have spent his years earning his living
by producing oil from sesame seed because of a vision of a Dakini or
Tantric Priestess.
3 In the Tibetan Epic of King Gesar, the kidnapped Drugmo is the
consort of Gesar of Ling. In his poem ‘Enthronement,‘ Ch?gyam Trungpa
Rinpoche, Gesar’s heir and founder of Shambhala International, writes:
“The warrior without a sword /Riding on a rainbow” ”The rainbow’s
horse” is an allusion of Trungpa’s metaphor.
4 ‘Evam’ is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘thus’ or ‘such,’ often used in
the opening lines that preface the sutras. Buddha's taught Six
Perfections (Sad Paramita): Generosity, Ethical Discipline, Patience,
Enthusiastic effort, Concentration and Wisdom.
